Topic: Standard Changes

Question:

Looking for examples of a standard change. I know they can vary across companies, but we're having some difficulty agreeing on examples of "a change to the infrastructure that follows an established path, is relatively common, and is the accepted solution to a specific requirement or set of requirements."

Nancy

Response:

Hi Nancy,

Standard Changes pair with Service Requests. The idea is that for every common IT service you provide to users, you have a defined service request. For example, adding a new user, resetting a password, etc. The phrase I use to describe standard changes is "those things you do every day and you are good at."

Please see the article I wrote titled "Accelerating Change Management" which explains how to get going with Standard Changes, and provides step-by-step directions to answer your question!

Thanks again, and I hope this helps -- Hank Marquis
